Accessibility Statement
Our commitment
NY Digital Accessibility is committed to providing an accessible and user-friendly experience for all visitors, including people with visual, auditory, neurological, motor, and cognitive disabilities. Accessibility is an ongoing process, and this website is continuously maintained with that in mind. We do not claim absolute perfection — we claim a standard, a method, and a working way to tell us when something falls short.
Target standard
This website targets the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA.
What this site does
- Semantic HTML with landmark regions, a logical heading hierarchy, and descriptive page titles
- A visible "Skip to main content" link and keyboard-operable navigation with no keyboard traps
- Clearly visible focus indicators on every interactive element
- Text and interface contrast chosen to meet or exceed AA ratios
- Layouts that reflow at narrow widths and remain usable at 200% zoom
- Forms with explicit labels, programmatically connected instructions, accessible validation with an announced error summary, and correct autocomplete attributes
- Descriptive link text, meaningful alternative text, and empty alt attributes for decorative images
- Respect for the prefers-reduced-motion setting; no autoplaying media, carousels, or flashing content
- No accessibility overlay widget — this site is built accessible rather than patched
- Core navigation, content, and forms remain understandable if JavaScript is unavailable
Testing approach
The site is reviewed with automated tooling and manual checks, including keyboard-only navigation, zoom and reflow review, contrast verification, and reduced-motion behavior. We keep an internal testing log of exactly which checks were performed in which environments, and we document the environments actually tested rather than claiming compatibility with every assistive technology.
Known limitations
- Web fonts load from Google Fonts; if the service is blocked, the site falls back to accessible system fonts.
- The verification-record search requires JavaScript; an email alternative is provided on the same page.
- Assistive-technology review is performed on a recurring cycle; findings are addressed as they are identified.
