Public records

Verify an accessibility record

Our engagements are filed in the Accessibility Registry, the public registry in which partners record the work they have performed. Enter the organization's domain to open its record: status, scope, dates, the partner that filed it, and its full history.

What the record shows

  • Remediation on record — the remediation program has begun and the work is under way. Expires 120 days after filing unless a retest is filed.
  • Verified — the defined scope was remediated and then retested by the filing partner, and the retest passed. Runs for a 12-month term and must be re-verified to renew.
  • Lapsed — the record passed its expiry without a retest or renewal. Lapsed records stay public with their history.

What a record does — and doesn't — establish. A record describes defined work, performed on a defined scope and as of the dates stated, by the partner identified in it. The absence of a record does not establish that an organization has or has not performed accessibility work.

See the registry's sample record for example.com. It is marked as a sample and describes no real organization.

The badge

Clients with a record may display the registry badge, a short script furnished by the registry that the client places in the site's footer; it reads the record live, shows its current state, and links to it. Its only effect on the client's website is that status display: the site's pages, code, and accessibility are otherwise unchanged, and the badge is not a remediation measure. Display rules and the embed code are on the registry's badge page.
